Top 5 Free Windows RT Apps [UPDATED]

I published a top 5 app list awhile back, but 1) a ton significant amount of new apps have hit the Windows App Store since then, and 2) my own usage habits have adapted and evolved as I try to get more and more efficient with my Surface RT.

So, without further ado, my updated Top Five list:

Asparion Clock: This simple little app allows you to create a live tile on your Start Screen that displays the time. Surprisingly handy!

Fresh Paint: Downloaded this app when I went over to help babysit my 3-year-old niece. She loved it, and I was pretty impressed too. It starts you off with the option to purchase a set of templates (most are either $1.49 or $1.99) that give you outlines to help you make something nice, or just a clean canvas and a palate of paints to dip your finger into. The quality is quite good: it really feels like you're painting with a brush. You can take a look at my niece's painting below.

3mb Blood Pressure Tracker: I was actually using another app to track my weight (I'm trying to lose about 15 lbs by March 31), but I also check my blood pressure regularly too so I wanted to find an app that did both. I found this one published by 3mb. It's a little lacking in the design department, but it does the trick.

SkyScanner: I've got a trip coming up to Charlotte and started off by looking at Bing Travel to see where the prices on airline tickets were. I decided to check out the App Store's travel category as well and found that SkyScanner was pretty well reviewed. I've since started using it and I've been pleased. It remembers your last search and updates as soon as you open the app back up. You can also save favorite searches in case you have certain flights you do often. Some of the airlines get left off, but it's a great place to start your ticket hunt with.

TeamViewer Touch: I still need to test this app out a bit more, but, if kept up to date and bug-free, this app is really a game changer. TeamViewer has been around for awhile on other platforms, but if you don't know what it is it's basically a program that allows you to control another computer remotely. That basically turns your Surface RT into a Surface Pro. I'll test the app out a bit more and come back with a full review later.
